Meet The Judges
Matt Caspari
Currently partner/creative director at Caspari McCormick, Matt worked as a copywriter in both the New York and London offices of Saatchi & Saatchi, and as a group head at DDB Needham Chicago and Earle Palmer Brown Phiadelphia before opening his agency in Wilmington, Delaware. He currently works on a variety of national and regional accounts including Calico, CarSense, Block Island Tourism and the Museum of the American Revolution – Historic Philadelphia’s newest addition.
Patrick Tubach
Patrick Tubach is a Visual Effects Supervisor at Industrial Light and Magic in San Francisco, CA. ILM was founded in 1975 by George Lucas to provide FX for his Star Wars films, and has gone on to become the premiere VFX house in the movie industry, having contributed to hundreds of landmark films over the past 40 years. Patrick was born in Simsbury, CT and attended Simsbury High School, where he made his own short films and grew a passion for film making. After graduating college and moving to Los Angeles in 1996, Patrick joined ILM in 1999, where he has contributed to dozens of feature films- most recently Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, for which he earned his second Oscar Nomination for best Visual Effects. He lives in Novato, CA with his wife and three kids.
Todd LeMieux
Todd M. LeMieux is a graphic designer and designer educator. He has been an active member of the Graphic Artists Guild for over 15 years; most recently he served on the National Board's Executive Committee, in addition to having served on the Advocacy, Communication and Education Committees of the Guild. Todd is currently the New England Regional Representative and a past At-Large Director of the Guild's Board. He is also a member of AIGA, and has served on the board as the Education Director for the AIGA-CT chapter. Todd works independently for select regional and national clients, design firms and ad agencies. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in Graphic Design from Westfield State University and has worked in graphic design and marketing since right around the time the Macintosh was born. He is currently the Art Director at Westfield State University, after teaching various graphic design classes at the University for over a decade. He is truly passionate about graphic design, wholly believing in the power of design to communicate, to shape brands, and in its ability to inform and educate the masses. Todd has won local, regional and national awards for his innovative and inspiring design work, as well as having his designs published in several books throughout the course of his career.
Mike Eaton
Mike Eaton has spent the past 20-some-odd years striving to be visually clever as either a designer or art director (sometimes both!). In that time, he has worked for such clients as Bank of America, New Balance, Stride Rite, Reebok, Sprint, Aflac, and Staples. His work has been featured in Print, Graphic Design: USA and HOW Magazines, The Best of Business Card Design 8, Logo and Letterhead Design 9 and the Logo Lounge series. He has won awards from AIGA, CADC, Hatch and the Business Marketing Association and will brag about it to anyone willing to listen. He works at DigitasLBI in Boston and lives in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts with his wife, twin children and a cat named Stormy. He enjoys eating donuts and complaining.
Thom Long
Thom is the owner and creative director of Idea Collective, a boutique branding studio out of Easthampton, MA. He has close to twenty years experience as an inter-disciplinary creative. His work has spanned many area of design practices from branding to print media, from interactive to animation/film, from exhibition design to architecture. He has lead multiple design teams in NY and Boston, featuring clients such as Elizabeth Arden, Gucci, Related Properties, Starwood Hotels, Marriott, Sofitel, Iron Chef Jose Garces, Berkshire Brewing Co. and Loews Hotels. His background in multiple design mediums is a key ingredient to his ability to collaborate with architects, interior designers, artists and company leadership.
Thom is a Five College Associate Professor of Architecture + Design, joint appointed at Hampshire College, Amherst College and Mount Holyoke College teaching courses on space, form and cross-disciplinary approaches to design and communication.
